Newsletter Collaborative Group
Our Purpose
The purpose of the Newsletter Collaborative Group (NCG) is to create, design, and distribute newsletters across the various Cobb County Public Library branches. This collaborative effort will ensure consistent branding, accessible design, and effective community engagement, allowing each branch to maintain its unique voice. By working together, the team will share best practices, overcome challenges, and create newsletters that inform and connect patrons with the library’s diverse resources and programs.

FAQs for Branch Newsletters
No, staff members are required to generate their own email lists. CUE cannot provide contact lists due to privacy policies and data restrictions. We recommend building your list through program registrations, community outreach, or personal connections within your branch.
Unfortunately, emails from library card applications are not added to any email databases for newsletter purposes. We are currently working with the IS Department and Customer Service to explore solutions that would allow us to incorporate these contacts in the future.
You can gather email contacts through sign-up sheets at library programs, by asking patrons if they'd like to receive updates, or by collaborating with community organizations that share an interest in your programs and services.
Make sure to obtain explicit consent from individuals who wish to receive your newsletter. You can collect email addresses through program participation, sign-up forms, or other engagement activities, but always ensure that people are opting in voluntarily. Additionally, CUE has created guidelines to follow that can be found on the CUE Marketing Assets page here: Newsletter Guidelines.
Yes, it’s important to include an unsubscribe option in every newsletter you send. This ensures compliance with email marketing standards and respects the preferences of your subscribers.
If your newsletter has already been approved by Slone, you still need to submit it through the new newsletter form for approval moving forward. This helps us track everyone's newsletter in our database and maintain consistency across the system.
To ensure the CUE Division receives your newsletters regularly when patrons do, you need to subscribe them to your newsletter database. This helps maintain communication and engagement with our division. Please subscribe the following emails to your newsletter: Slone.williams@cobbcounty.org, Katherine.zavala@cobbcounty.org, Shannon.tyner@cobbcounty.org, & Thomas.brooks@cobbcounty.org.
A great option for getting started is MailChimp.com. It allows you to manage up to 500 emails for free and send a limit of 1,000 emails monthly. It is also user-friendly, featuring drag-and-drop options for easy newsletter design.
We will include signup links to your newsletters on your location pages and our news and media page: Cobb Library News and Media. If you do not currently have a form for newsletter signup, please create one using Google Forms and share the link with the CUE Division. A suggestion is to create QR codes that can be placed around your branches for easy access.
